DBA Supports EPA's Revisions to Clean Water Act
Recent changes proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) could mean good news for growing and expanding dairy and livestock operations in the state of Wisconsin, according to the Dairy Business Association (DBA). The revision introduced to the EPA’s Clean Water Act could change the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program’s permitting process to allow operators to self-certify their dairy and livestock facilities as “no discharge,” meaning that they do not plan to discharge into the state’s waterways.

DBA Pleased with DNR's Air Emissions Extension
MADISON - On February 27, 2008, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) board members unanimously approved NR 445, thereby extending the enforcement date of rules that might have required livestock producers to invest significant amounts of revenue on untested practices or equipment which may not have met compliance under these new state and federal air emissions standards.

DBA Supports EPA's Reporting Exemption Proposal
The Dairy Business Association (DBA) supports the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed exemption that would exclude farms from reporting air emissions of hazardous substances from animal waste and allow farms to better utilize time and financial resources towards effectively protecting human health and the environment.

MADISON – Soon, more than 800,000 farmers and small business employees in Wisconsin will have a choice when it comes to their health insurance options – BadgerChoice. Efforts of Governor Doyle have resulted in a plan that will transform the health insurance market and allow employees to choose a plan that fits their needs at a price they can afford. BadgerChoice, an inclusion in the Wisconsin Small Business Health Care Solution, will level the playing field to provide competitive insurance rates, simplicity and choice for small businesses throughout the state.
