Social media tip: Live feeds

Are you adventurous? Social media gives you the opportunity to be by experimenting with the Facebook, Instagram and Twitter live features. Using these tools will grab your audience’s attention and get them more engaged with the dairy community. Facebook live can be done from your phone or computer while Instagram live can only be used on your phone. For Twitter, you will need to download Periscope on your phone to conduct a live feed.

Here are important tips to consider:

  • For your first video, keep it simple and short.
  • Broadcast your live feed when your audience is most active. This is typically in the later afternoon to early evening.
  • With more experience, try to make your live feeds last for five to 10 minutes.
  • Make sure the people around you are aware that you’re going live. This will avoid any unnecessary noise.
  • Hold the phone horizontally to allow viewers a more complete picture.
  • Avoid live feeds in a setting that has the potential for something unfavorable to occur.
