Feltz Family Farms is a fifth-generation dairy farm in Stevens Point owned and operated by Ken and Jackie Feltz, along with one of their sons, Jared. Ken purchased the farm from his parents in 1995.

The sixth generation, consisting of Jared, his wife, Jenna, and his siblings, Allison, Taryn and Jake, are involved on the farm and in the family’s dairy store. They milk 680 cows and own and rent 750 acres.

DBA: What are you most proud of on your farm?
Feltzes: We are most proud of our family that returned to the farm. We always told our kids to do what they love, and they all went to college and returned home to help on the farm. We are also proud of our 10 full-time employees. We have an employee that’s been here for 20 years.

DBA: What sustainable practices are you using on the farm and what benefits have you seen?
Feltzes: We use a variety of sustainable practices. We installed two robots that are connected to Feltz’s Dairy Store. We also have a sand separator that works in connection with our composting operation. We continue to find new ways to make our farm more sustainable for the future.

DBA: How do you engage the non-farming public about dairy farming?
Feltzes: We make an effort to invite the non-farming public to our farm through tours, our dairy store, corn maze, pumpkin patch and various other activities. We live close to town so we understand the importance of engaging the public. We continue to be honest and open to the non-farming public.

DBA: What advice would you offer to young farmers?
Feltzes: We have always told our kids to find what you love to do and the money will follow. If you are passionate about something, you will be successful.

DBA: What does the future hold for Feltz Family Farms?
Feltzes: We are excited to continue our success with the dairy store. We want to keep the farm and store in the family. We want our family to continue working well together.

DBA: You have been a member of DBA since March 2006. What benefit do you find most helpful?
Feltzes: It is a value that we can’t put a price tag on. We enjoy being a part of a positive and like-minded organization. I know that I can always call DBA for help and support.
