It's no secret farmers are struggling to find new employees to staff their farms. Rural populations are decreasing and dairymen have become increasingly dependent on foreign-born employees. Currently there are no agricultural worker programs that allow for the year-round labor force dairy farms require.

This fall, the Agricultural Guestworker Act (AG Act) was introduced in the House Judiciary Committee by U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA). The AG Act is a potential vehicle for the comprehensive labor solution for dependable year-round labor force dairy farmers need. However, there is more work that needs to be done for the programs in the AG Act to become a reality.

On the webinar, our presenters will also discuss the landscape in Washington D.C. for immigration reform as Congress continues to work towards solutions on several issues including DACA, federal spending packages, welfare reform and the farm bill.
